TEXPO Pakistan 2024 has opened at the Expo Centre Karachi to immense international attention for the nation’s textiles and leather industries. The three-day event that will go till October 25 will carry more than 200 exhibitors and has already received foreign buyers as many as 573 from nearly 60 countries. The count is expected to mushroom manifold by the end of the day on the third and final day. The primary objective of this three-day extravaganza would be strengthening trade ties while showcasing local artisans’ rich handcrafting skills.

The ceremony was virtually addressed by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, accompanied by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The ministry in charge was the Ministry of Commerce and Textile and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), organizing the exhibition with all the crucial stature it held in promoting economic growth.

In his speech, Minister Khan took the opportunity to point out that there are positive prospects for the country’s textile and leather industries in terms of improvement in resilience and competitiveness through public-private partnerships. He brought to focus that TEXPO is still an outstanding platform for new partnerships as well as strengthening the existing ones in mutual growth.

Khan further elaborated that efforts of the ministry include the Export Development Fund (EDF), under which various facilitations will be available for businesses to promote, market, and even train their personnel with all dignity while concentrating on environmental and social standards. He urged the stakeholders to adopt the latest sustainable methods and technologies in order to position Pakistan as a leader in eco-friendly production.

As a matter of fact, local leaders also found a platform for themselves in the event. Chief Minister Shah said events like these are imperative to represent the local artisans’ talent on international platforms. Governor Kundi, hailing the exhibition, expressed hopes that the event would enhance Pakistan’s soft image worldwide.

Apart from business networking, TEXPO Pakistan 2024 featured fashion shows by top Pakistani designers, like Shamaeel Ansari and Sanam Chaudhry, for the first time. The shows emphasized the broader and diverse fashion world of Pakistan. As TEXPO Pakistan 2024 goes on, it aims to cultivate international trade relations and promote industrial capabilities in the country.
