Eye of Rah | TikTok's Eye of Rah Meme Sparks Viral Sensation

A new meme trending on TikTok, “Eye of Rah,” has spread to millions with its surreal and amusing edits. According to a source, the meme derived from a post by TikTok Rashad Bowens (@lilbothemeilbotheme) in which his image was replaced with that of a cyclops carrying a single red dreadlock on his head. The edited version of the clip, made by Jeremiah Springfield (@frightenedsheep25937582), also gained popularity in its bizarre style.

This “Eye of Rah” meme, of course, comes from the ancient Egyptian symbol Eye of Ra, representing power and vengeance. Added to Bowens’ dry-humored reaction videos, the meme had reached new heights of popularity. Originating in December 2022, the first video gained notoriety as the edit made by Springfield, at the tail end of 2024, received attention for spreading such absurdity through surreal video edits that some describe as “brain rot”.

What makes this “Eye of Rah” trend peculiar is its mixing with other currently viral memes, including “Chopped Chin” and “I Bought a Property in Egypt.” TikTokkers have taken it on and made even more remixes into fiery visuals combined with over-the-top effects. So much so that one from @.bob911_ gained 2.4 million views, showing this meme has vast appeal.

Bowens and Springfield are thrilled and thankful that the trend did so well. Bowens mentioned that the meme was a turning point in his content creation journey, and Springfield said it’s fun to see his edits grow and inspire others.
