Former President Donald Trump on Monday made a stop in Atlanta, Georgia, ahead of the U.S. election, where he spoke to a group of supporters at Georgia Tech. Trump spoke across the street from the CNN debate stage on issues that mattered most to conservatives while taking a significant jab at Democratic leaders such as Vice President Kamala Harris, District Attorney Fani Willis, and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
Trump described Harris’s policies as “radical” and indicated they are ones of “hate,” questioning the commitment she has to running the country. He also attacked the Fulton County District Attorney who is prosecuting him on charges of interfering with the election and labeled the acts politically motivated.
In his speech, Trump touched on recent comments from Michelle Obama, calling her words “nasty.” He also repeated criticisms of unauthorized immigration as he called for stronger policies to prevent what he described as the “destruction” of the country. One policy he supported was a tax credit for family caregivers, which he called a measure aimed at strengthening American families.
The rally at Georgia Tech brought out a relatively younger crowd than some of his Georgia rallies in the past. Many of those attending were students or alumni, but some complained that Trump does not support key social causes and international affairs. Students for Justice in Palestine, however, protested outside the stadium, showing their demand to bring focus to the struggle in Gaza and urging greater transparency for the university with its Israel investments.
It comes after a New York event, where racially charged remarks added sparks to the campaign’s final days.
