President-elect Donald Trump declared on Sunday that Alina Habba, one of the members of his legal team, would serve as a counselor to the president in his future administration. On his social media, Truth Social, Trump lauded Habba as “a tireless advocate for justice,” as well as the stalwart loyalty displayed over a long course of several lawsuits.
“Few know the weaponization of the ‘injustice’ system better than Alina,” Trump said. He mentioned her being a first-generation American of Middle Eastern descent and also the Chaldean Woman of the Year.
Habba, who represented Trump in high-profile legal cases this year, thanked X (formerly Twitter) and said it was the “honor of her life” to serve the 45th and 47th president.
In addition to Habba, Trump announced other key nominations. Former Ambassador Christopher Landau was nominated for Deputy Secretary of State who will be working with the nominee Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Trump praised Landau’s previous work in curbing illegal migration during his stint in Mexico and his long legal career.
Michael Needham, a longtime Rubio aide, was nominated counselor to the State Department, while Michael Anton, a National Security Council veteran during part of Trump’s first term, will serve as director of policy planning.
These nominations show loyalty within his team and commitment to America-first policies from the president-elect. The president-elect also weighed in on Brian Schimming, who was re-elected chairman of the Wisconsin GOP, crediting him for key Republican victories.
As Trump prepares to enter his second term, his cabinet selections indicate what he prioritizes in governance and policy and thus sets the stage for a politically charged and ambitious administration.
