Two alleged militants from Pakistan were reportedly killed during an encounter in Security Operations in the Anantnag district in recent developments in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. Local sources said that the clash took place in the dense forests of Shangus Larnoo, South Kashmir, where Indian forces, including the Victor Force and Jammu and Kashmir Police, were conducting extensive search operations.

The incident is part of a higher escalation with Indian authorities reporting a high alert status in the region. In another operation, it is said that a top LeT commander, Usman, is trapped in the Khanyar area of Srinagar as security forces step up their operations.

The meetings have come at a time when Indian forces and local militant groups have entered a drawn-out standoff, where civilian communities of the regions are already feeling anxious regarding their security. The last few weeks witnessed Indian forces carrying out operations, dubbed “clean up” to wipe out militancy in the region, drawing not only regional but international focus to this long-persisting issue.

Pakistan has repeatedly urged restraint and dialogue in the Kashmir issue to bring it to a peaceful settlement, and respecting civilian life and regional stability are necessary.
