On Wednesday, Cristiano Ronaldo released his YouTube channel, UR Cristiano, and registered millions of subscribers in hours.
Cristiano Ronaldo is an expert Portuguese footballer thought by many to be one of the best footballers ever. Second to none as an attacker, athletic, and able to play anywhere across the front line, he won numerous Ballon d’Or awards and won numerous trophies at club level with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Al Nassr. Ronaldo has had a glittering international career, winning the UEFA European Championship and the UEFA Nations League with Portugal. Beyond football, he is an icon in sports, fashion, and even philanthropy across the world.
The Portugal international media team uploaded 19 videos to his ‘UR Cristiano’ channel, featuring him and his family.
In his recent Instagram story, Cristiano posted “The wait is over. My YouTube channel is finally here! SIUUUbscribe and join me on this new journey,”
It was an immediate hit. Within 90 minutes broke the world record by becoming the fastest channel to hit millions of subscribers. He now has 20 million and counting.
Ronaldo shared a video on Instagram where he proudly showed his children the gold “play button” awarded to him by YouTube for surpassing 1 million subscribers. He captioned the post: “A present for my family ❤️ Thank you to all the SIUUUbscribers!”
While Ronaldo swiftly overtook eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi’s YouTube subscriber count of 2.31 million, he still has a long way to go to catch up to Mr Beast, who leads with 331 million subscribers. This isn’t the first time the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star has set records on social media. Ronaldo boasts 170 million followers on Facebook, 112.6 million on X (formerly Twitter), and an astounding 636 million on Instagram.
