Venom: The Last Dance

Tom Hardy will play the role of Eddie Brock one last time in Venom: The Last Dance, the third and climactic chapter in the Sony Venom saga. Slated for an October 25, 2024 release, the movie will be an epic showdown: the recent trailer discloses more about the intense symbiote battles that will finally close the story of Eddie Brock and his alien alter ego, Venom, on a more emotive note.

Directed by Venom veterans, the film has been described by Empire as a “symbiote apocalypse”. From the reimagining of the classic “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” gag to the sight of a Venom horse suddenly appearing, there are loads of exciting moments in this trailer. But the best of all has to be Knull, a major figure in the lore of the symbiote’s evil presence sure to make an all-out symbiote war raise the stakes higher than ever.

The film’s storyline follows Eddie and Venom being on the run, hunted by both of their worlds. As the net closes in on them, the duo makes a devastating decision that will bring their story to a dramatic end. The logline goes: “Eddie and Venom are on the run. The hunted by both worlds, the net drawing closer, brings about a devastating decision, which means the curtains are falling for Venom and Eddie’s last dance.

Tom Hardy, who has made the role of Eddie Brock all about raw intensity on screen, will now be sending in a mighty goodbye to this character. In support of him, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, and Stephen Graham also star in this last ride. The film will be a sequel after Madame Web and before Kraven The Hunter within Sony’s extended Spider-Man universe.

Hardy wrote the screenplay, teaming once more with Kelly Marcel, writer of the first two Venom movies, who makes her directing debut with it. The two are joined by producers Arad, Hutch Parker, Amy Pascal, and Matt Tolmach in trying to send the Venom saga out with a bang.

After all, it’s already been proved that Venom can be a box office powerhouse: the first grossed $856 million worldwide, while 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage scored a still-respectable $502 million at the box office despite the pandemic. The Last Dance continuing this streak means the fans are going to expect a very high-octane and action-packed end to one of Sony’s most successful superhero franchises.
