The 73rd Miss Universe pageant ended on a historic note as Victoria Kjaer Theilvig of Denmark won the coveted title on November 16, 2024, at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico. Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua crowned her. The victory marked Denmark’s first time winning the pageant.
A record 125 contestants from various countries and territories participated in this year’s contest, which was opened by a spectacular presentation of culture and style via preliminary rounds such as the national costume parade and swimwear presentations, before the top 30 semifinalists were chosen through combined selection and public voting.
The pageant relaxed its previous restrictions on age, height, and weight, making the competition all the more accessible to a much more diverse spectrum of participants. The final leg was held through a swimsuit round, an evening gown challenge, and a long-drawn question-and-answer session, which filtered down the participants to lead five contestants to the finale. Victoria Kjaer Theilvig stood out with elegance, poise, and thoughtful answers that won the hearts of the judges and the audience.
The event joyously marked not only the Danish victory but also the opening of a new crown called Lumiรจre de l’Infini, “The Light of Infinity,” featuring diamonds and 23 golden South Sea pearls, symbolizing “resilience and unity.” Made from Filipino craft, it was a stunner.
This season bashed all records in its competition with 12 first-timers: Iran, Eritrea, and Macau for the first time and Cuba and Fiji return. These achievements represent what this pageant is all about showing the diversity of this world and how to power it.
Meet Ms. Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, who will be wearing the crown of Miss Universe 2024, a symbol of beauty, goodwill, and cultural exchange across the face of the earth today.
