Images of Meta | Meta Fires 24 Employees for Misuse of Meal Vouchers

Meta, the parent of Company of Social Media fired 24 employees at its Los Angeles office after an internal probe concluded employees had been misusing the company’s meal voucher scheme. They used daily meal credits on personal items like laundry detergent, toothpaste, and wine glasses rather than food.

Providing its staff with a rather good allowance for meals, including $20 for breakfast and $25 each for lunch and dinner. Facilities that spend more time in their bigger offices will have the option of in-house dining. Various smaller offices are provided with vouchers for food delivery through services like Grubhub and Uber Eats. It was discovered that several employees were misusing the vouchers to purchase non-food items, as well as ordering food for home delivery when away from work.

They ignored Meta’s warnings and made it stricter action from the company end. The employee anonymously spoke to the platform Blind claiming he used the credits while shopping for his stuff when not dining at the office. That employee of $400,000 annually reportedly justified the reason by saying it was a waste not to use that allowance.

Meta answered with the words of its spokesperson, David Arnold, claiming that the company is realigning its resources to properly make its services better strategically. It is part of a more general restructuring of Meta, redistributing employees to different positions and offices.
