The Microsoft Windows 11 24H2 update has been riddled with technical issues, leaving users annoyed. Players of Ubisoft games have faced problems ranging from crashes to the black screen while trying to run such popular titles as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Star Wars Outlaws.

These problems began to appear after the roll-out, and so, Ubisoft issued a hotfix for Star Wars Outlaws. However, it seems that games like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey remain afflicted with no patches in view. Microsoft has rolled out a temporary fix by stopping the roll-out of the update for computers running them. Users who have already gotten 24H2 are advised to roll back to 23H2 or even clean and install it to get things working again.

There is also this disruption for gaming, and the update renders eSCL USB scan devices undetectable. The situation impacts printers and scanners by using the driverless eSCL protocol, which is often used in offices and homes. Users who are dependent on Mopria-certified devices report complete connectivity failures.

Microsoft has confirmed the problem but so far hasn’t offered a fix. To avoid further problems, the firm stopped releasing the update for computers equipped with problematic printer drivers. Users are advised to refrain from forcing updates if they haven’t received such an option through the Settings app.

Against this backdrop, Microsoft’s latest round of updates puts an emphasis on the need to test compatibility before distributing the software, asking users to stay vigilant while updating.
