It stated that Edelweiss is going to continue its services on weekly flights from Zurich to Havana despite the decrease in the trend of travels from Cuba. The airline appears to be distinct as well, since other airlines similar to Germany‘s Condor recently removed Cuba from the 2025 summer flight schedule.

Fewer Swiss passengers are flying to Havana, while Edelweiss has recorded an increase in connecting passengers from other European countries coming through Zurich as a transit. According to the Edelweiss official, there is “a visible decrease in demand on Cuba routes,” although the growing interest by international visitors has partly cushioned this downturn.

The island nation of Cuba also faces strong economic headwinds made worse by natural disasters and international tensions that tighten travel warnings. However, Edelweiss does not take this to be the reason to pull out from the Cuban market. It stated that operations would go on as usual with the same commitment it has made so far towards the destination.

The decision has come amid severe uncertainty in the Cuban tourism sector. Power outages now for months, shortages, and stricter international travel advice have all contributed to the deepening complexity of the situation.

Condor has offers from 11 of Germany’s biggest cities, like Munich Berlin, and Hamburg. Those are the most popular tourist destinations in the whole country.

Edelweiss, however, is one of the few airlines in German-speaking Europe to continue flights to Cuba. This will be the link through which Swiss airlines will try to back tourism on the island and provide European travelers with reliable access to the Caribbean destination.

While Cuba continues battling its problems, Edelweiss’s commitment makes clear that the firm believes in backing tourism and retaining important connections under adverse market conditions.
