Epic Games, the developers of Fortnite, have officially confirmed that this much-loved Fortnite OG Mode will be here to stay once it becomes available on 6 December as a full-time part of the game. This mode brings to life the experience of the original Chapter 1 from 2017: the original map, weapons, and gameplay mechanics are coming back while adding some modern touch to make things even more exciting.
What to Expect in Fortnite OG Mode
OG Mode will be a return to the original Chapter 1 map with iconic locations like Pleasant Park, Tomato Town, and Wailing Woods, to name a few. It was done meticulously by recreating trees, chests, and structures exactly to resemble their 2017 counterpart and includes only minor additions of ziplines and ascenders for accessibility in Zero Build mode.
A wide variety of classic weapons will be available, such as the Assault Rifle, Pump Shotgun, and Rocket Launcher. Iconic trap items, including the Damage Trap and Ceiling Zapper, will return to ensure that players can relive Fortnite’s early meta.
Modern Features with a Classic Touch
Though OG Mode tries to maintain the core feel of the original experience, Epic has introduced some modern features. Sprinting, sliding, mantling, and healing on the move are gameplay mechanics that did not exist in the original version. Reboot Vans have also been included, and max building materials have been capped at 999. The infamous “double pump” shotgun mechanic will also be included, though it may be changed later.
New OG Pass and Seasonal Updates
Seasonal rewards in OG Mode will be in the shape of its Battle Pass, named OG Pass, consisting of 45 tiers of nostalgic rewards, including new characters inspired by the history of the game. The first season of this new mode will run until January 31, 2025, with Chapter 1 Season 2 updates planned for early next year.
Epic’s decision to make OG Mode a permanent feature ensures that players can continue enjoying this fan-favorite experience for years to come.
