South Korea is in an outpour of mourning over the tragic crash of Jeju Air Flight 2216 in Muan, Jeollanam-do, killing all 179 aboard. The airplane caught fire at impact, shocking the nation in its wake.
In a rare gesture of magnanimity, K-pop boyband BTS member J-Hope contributed 100 million won, around $68,000, to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association. J-Hope donated his share on January 2 to support the family of the victim.
“When I got the sad news, I was quite sad,” he said. “I donated to offer some comfort for the families during this time,” he added.
He expressed solidarity with the other victims of the disaster and extended condolences to them.
This deed has further pushed J-Hope into the category of “Hope Bridge Honor Club,” a section of high-value contributors who have chosen to support all those in dire need.
Beyond his philanthropic work, J-Hope is getting ready for his much-awaited comeback to music. He will kick off his “J-HOPE TOUR – HOPE ON THE STAGE” with a series of concerts at Seoul’s KSPO Dome starting from February 28 to March 2 following his discharge from the military last October.
Fans are now in full anticipation of the re-unification of the group completely in 2025, following the end of the military service by the seven members. The series that marked the exemplary Most Beautiful Moment in Life stands at its 10th anniversary, and the seven members shall go on a global tour to conclude.
In this calamity, South Korea weeps, and there are compassion acts and resilience as there happens to shine hope and comfort for those consoling the affected.
