South Korean actor Song Jae Rim, from several of the finest K-dramas ever, has been found dead in his apartment located in Seongdong District, Seoul, on November 12. The investigators have not announced any cause of death of the 39-year-old so far as they continue probing the case, but a two-page letter has been reportedly found at the scene. The authorities would not say what is in the letter.
Fans and the entertainment industry today mourn the sudden passing of Song Jae Rim. His family has prepared a memorial space at Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital Funeral Hall where his younger sister will be the chief mourner for the November 14 funeral.
Song Jae-rim debuted with the movie Actresses in 2009 but gained prominence as one of the dedicated royal guards in the 2012 drama The Moon Embracing the Sun. That was when he became popular because he acted as Lord Kim Jae-woon. Subsequently, he represented a sequence of popular dramas including Two Weeks (2013), Unkind Ladies (2015), Secret Mother (2018), and Cafe Minamdang (2022). Most recently, he appeared in the drama My Military Valentine; before that, he led the cast of Queen Woo, early this year.
The actor was widely recognized for his appearance on We Got Married, particularly because his on-screen pairing with actress Kim So-Eun became a favorite with everyone. His unique blend of charisma and skill set cemented his fanbase, and while it is never nice to lose, fans were rather viscerally emotional about Lee Hyung-cheol’s loss.
While busy on the small screen, Song had several projects lined up, two of which were I’ll Become Rich and Death Business. He has also performed in The Rose of Versailles, which just ended last month.
