The Mega Millions jackpot has risen to an astronomical amount of $862 million, following no winner of Tuesday’s drawing. Friday’s winning numbers were 2, 20, 51, 56, 67, and the gold Mega Ball 19 with a Megaplier of 2.
The current jackpot is estimated at $392.1 million cash, giving winners a one-time lump sum or the option of 29 annual payments. This is the seventh largest in Mega Millions history, and it reflects growing enthusiasm among players nationwide.
The chances of winning the jackpot are still very low, at 1 in 302,575,350, and that is the reason the prize has rolled over since its last win on September 10 in Texas, when a $810 million jackpot was claimed. If no winner is produced by Friday’s drawing, the jackpot will continue to grow, with the next draw scheduled for Tuesday, December 24, adding more holiday cheer to the season.
The Mega Millions game is held in 45 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands at $2 per play. The lottery is still open to aspiring contestants, most of whom would like to be like some of the history-making winners, including the record jackpot winner in August 2023, who walked away with $1.6 billion.
As the players cross-check their tickets, the end-of-year windfall seems hopeful. Until then, the lottery world waits and waits to see if there will be a winner who takes this life-changing jackpot or if it will keep on increasing and shatter more records.
