Microsoft is experiencing an all-out outage which is causing its Microsoft 365 services to malfunction, these include Outlook, Teams, and Exchange Online. Mail errors and calendar unavailability are among the global complaints that occurred. Service monitor Downdetector reports an overflow of more than 800 complaints.
Microsoft acknowledged the situation on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday morning, with the company attributing the cause of this problem to a recent change. The company said it was rolling back the update and checking out further measures to solve the disruption. Affected users reported receiving error messages like “Your request can’t be completed right now” when trying to access Outlook.
Reports on service failures came from multiple countries: the Netherlands, Poland, and Sweden. In Ireland, the University of Galway said that this was a confirmed outage characterized by a global intermittent issue affecting Microsoft 365 customers.
It was the second major outage in July when an error on the part of a cybersecurity firm affected Microsoft 365 services. It caused airlines and banks to lose some money besides their healthcare systems. The aftermath of the incident resulted in a lot of operative setbacks and subsequent legal disputes.
Microsoft advised affected users to check out its admin center for updates and was continuing its investigation into the root cause. The company assured the public that work on the mitigation was ongoing, and services were soon to be restored.
For businesses and institutions across the globe, such outages regarding Microsoft 365 and its various components, such as Teams and Exchange Online, are very disruptive. For the latest updates, please monitor Microsoft’s posts.
